Experience Marina by Juan Paolo Umpa of paoloumpa.tumblr.com

Marina Bay Sands is definitely an eye-candy and a must-visit icon in Singapore. The hotel has three towers topped with a boat-shaped skypark which looked absolutely stunning. It also has a shopping mall, theater and casino in the foreground and the lotus flower-shaped building beside it.

Marina Bay Sands is only 10 minutes away from Changi International Airport, located along the Marina Bay waterfront in the heart of Singapore. The reception area was very impressive, with beautiful Singaporean ladies serenading its guests through live music. I should add the fact that the rooms are very, very spacious. Since the hotel is a bit expensive, the six of us took a room for two and just asked for extra beds for four.

Our room faces the Marina Bay and the Merlion. It also had a wide flat-screen interactive television and internet cable although we had to pay extra if we want to use their internet connection. There are also clubs and high-end restaurants in the building but the best thing about the skypark is its infinity pool. The water was just up to my shoulder so it wasn’t really deep. It offers a breathtaking view to the CBD Skyline, City Hall and Esplanade.

The Marina Bay Shoppes. It is shopping mall located just across the street. It’s a very fancy place filled with top-of-the-line brands and expensive restaurants. This is not a right place for people on a tight budget, but who couldn’t resist window shopping, right? Also from my experience, dining at the hotel was also expensive, so I suggest eating at Makansutra Gluttons Bay located just a few blocks away from the hotel. And oh, add the fact that 90% of the people there are Filipinos!

All in all, Marina Bay Sands is far the best place to stay at Singapore. If you want to save money, do exactly what we did. I hope this entry helps! :)

Why Travel?

By Renz Bulseco and DJ Punzalan

One travels when he either gets promoted on his job or wins the lottery. For couples, they only travel during their honeymoon or simply just one of their business routines.

But we at TheItchyFeet disagree.

Traveling is more than that. A lot of people think that traveling is just for the privileged; those who can afford the exorbitant round trip tickets to a certain destination. But contrary to this infamous thinking, traveling is affordable — if you want it to be.

Travel isn’t just something for the privileged; it’s generally open for all! As a matter of fact, it’s a one basic right that every person in the world ‘needs’ to do, well, at least once in their life. You see, the beauty of life is best appreciated when you step out of your comfort zone and see the diversity of the world.

Unlike buying a car or house and lot which has a fixed price, traveling is the complete otherwise. All you need is to plan ahead of your trip and chances of getting promo fares are high. Several low-cost carriers sell rock-bottom fares, thus flying to different places is possible. Indeed, everyone can afford and enjoy the perks of being a traveler.

Eyeing for one adventure a few months ahead, scouting for the best deals and the next thing you know, you are there, wandering with your itchy feet. We in fact, started going somewhere out while we were students and take note, we do not have any sources of income yet. Then here comes the urge of flying out to different places, and in just a blink, we learned the art of saving money! See how it changes you in so many ways.

Traveling is a perfect long-term investment. You get the chance to experience life outside your comfort zone; you can attest your limits, strong points and weaknesses. In traveling, you meet new culture and new people. Although there are lots of challenges in traveling. One easily gets confused when he enters the labyrinth of downtown Hongkong or gets lost in translation while conversing to some of the locals. Despite the difficulties, these can be worthwhile experiences. At the end of the day, you’ll realize that there’s more to life than home, your comfort zone.

You’ll be surprised on how inspired you are when you get home - a fusion of creativity and a strong impulsive flow of ideas and thoughts rush into your senses from the day you left your home until you get back to your humble abode. This perhaps is the greatest incentive that you wouldn’t usually get.

It doesn’t really matter whether you’re traveling solo or not. Nowadays, technology brings the best programs for travelers for them to enjoy their trips.

Don’t think too much, check the map right now. Whether here or abroad, get the itinerary done and we’ll help you plan your trip. ;)
